History & Genealogy
We have a great group of staff dedicated in their own genealogy research willing to assist you in your research.
The library has a microfilm reader and printer available to our patrons. We also have microfilm dating back to 1898 and a heritage room filled with Cozad yearbooks, cemetery and marriage records, Federal Census records, and many resources for central Nebraska. MyHeritage database can also help you find online records and is available on our DOWNLOADABLE BOOKS tab under the NEBRASKACCESS link.
Local research by members our staff is available as well. The minimum fee for hard-copy research is $5.00 plus photocopying costs and postage. There is no charge for staff-led electronic research.
Requests for research may be placed by contacting us via the ABOUT US tab. Please be specific in the nature of the research you are requesting. Be sure to include any contacts you have already made in the county, including the county court house, Dawson County Historical Society, or any other county society. If a contact has already been made, knowing about it will help cut down on our research time.

As of 2024, the Cozad Genealogy Club meetings have been suspended due to lack of members.

Membership in the Cozad Genealogy Club is $3 per individual, per year. The membership year is January 1 through December 31.
